Art Reach
Brief
Connect and engage with minority communities through innovative art events
Key insight
Government and local councils often view art and creativity as frivolous, ignoring the meaning, value and benefit it brings to individuals.
The disregard and lack of value for creativity within South Asian cultures creates an additional barrier for entry as it is another negative perception to overcome
Idea
Challenge the frivolous perception of art. Offering opportunity for South Asian women to experience its ability to comfort, unite and uplift, introducing creativity as a valuable coping mechanism for modern life.
Concept
Concept
A Playful Pause : a mix of warm and cool tones which work together to connote an energetic yet comforting mood, with imagery that reassures you do not have to be an artist to be involved in the arts.
Outcome
Coalesce Collective CIC : a collective establishing a pathway into the arts to encourage creative expression as a way to relieve stress and anxiety for female South Asian university students.

Programme
A programme currently sitting at six events has been created. These events occur on the second Saturday of every month. Each event uses a creative art activity to relieve stress and anxiety and other specific issues relevant to our South Asian university consumer. The idea is to use a relevant issue to our consumer to get them through the door and then inside they can experience creativity and they will realise how it is benefiting them.
Event Space
A permanent space in Sneinton Market. When not in use it will be offered to be ‘hired’ at a low rate on ‘Appear Here app’ for local creatives, university students etc. demonstrating a genuine commitment to creativity for cause.Aware of how space itself can be a barrier to entry, a familiar casual environment like your own front room minimises this risk.
